- Bimmah Sinkhole: Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. It is only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Ḑibāb and Bimmah. The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone. However, locals believe that it was created by a meteorite, ‘Hawaiyat Najm’, which translates to ‘The Falling Star’ in Arabic, and hence the name. To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park, Hawiyat Najm Park , around it, along with a stairway leading down to the lake.

From Muscat, get picked up and taken on a full day excursion that takes you to both Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole, and includes a hike in there too. This is a small group tour, and Dinner and refreshments are provided. You’ll jump into several pools today, and hike through the gorge, so bring some non-slip shoes and some sandals, too. One of the best parts of the pools are their clear blue water. Bring a change of clothes, swimming clothes, and sunscreen too Protect your phone by putting it into a waterproof case Get collected and dropped back to your hotel in Muscat Hike for around 40 minutes and swim in 2-3 pools
